William F Sheffield Regional Park, near Jacksonville Clay Target Sports, is a gem of natural beauty hidden away in the suburbs of Jacksonville, Florida. Located just five miles south of downtown and conveniently accessible by I-95, this park provides visitors with a tranquil oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It was designed by the Florida Park Service and opened to the public in 1983. The park has over 400 acres of mixed hardwood and pine forests, open fields, wetlands, creeks, and lakes.

Fish in Lake Sheffield

The centerpiece of William F Sheffield Regional Park is Lake Austin: a picturesque lake surrounded by lush vegetation. This lake provides visitors with abundant recreational activities like swimming, boating, and fishing.

It is stocked with largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, catfish, and garfish throughout the year. Anglers can cast their lines from one of seven fishing piers around the lake – each equipped with benches to sit on while enjoying a day out.

Take Aim at the Clay Target Course

The park also features a clay target course open to members and non-members of Jacksonville Clay Target Sports. Open Thursday through Sunday, this course offers two trap fields and one five-stand field, providing plenty of opportunities to sharpen your shooting skills.

For those looking for an additional challenge, the Sporting Clays Course provides an exhilarating experience with its winding trails full of targets placed in various angles and positions.
